One of my most valued hobbies is making custom 108-bead prayer malas with crystals chosen through my knowledge of their properties/historical uses as well as an intuitive process sitting with the buyer’s intentions and preferences.
How to Use a Prayer Mala
- Just wear it! Enjoy the healing presence of the stones against your skin.
- As a meditation tool: Hold the necklace in your hands. Starting at the guru bead (the large bead at the bottom of the mala) hold it between your thumb and middle finger. Recite a mantra or simply breathe in for a count of 4 and out for a count of 4, moving to the next bead and repeating until you’ve reached the guru bead again.
Pricing
A custom mala typically costs approximately $85-$120 in total, with $5 added for shipping (in US–up to $30 internationally). I ask $50 in addition to the cost of beads and materials, which usually ranges from approximately $35-$65.
